on L-Jet cars, there's not a bolt. the nose of the cam is threaded and there's a nut that holds the gear on.

the gear itself stayed on, miraculously, but the threads are chewed up and I can't get it back on without tearing the thing down at least a bit.

oh damn. can you pull the stud and replace it with a late model bolt and locotite it?

it's completely different, it's like an M14-size thread. there's no stud, there's also no distributor cap and rotor at the front there.
