Dang Jer.. I'm sorry to hear your so full. I would've loved to give you a helping hand. Best of luck getting all your stuff together! Hopefully you can finish all those cars and see them roll together for B-Fest. You not being able to my car is definitely not a problem, as I'm sure these other wonderful r3v members would be happy to lend a helping hand :)

          Alrite then.. Well...??
WHO WANTS TO OFFER ME LABOR?? I think I have absolutely everything I need for my swap now; my last things needed were my flywheel bolts and those should be on their way today. Elixir? Mkc? You guys down to both meet up and have 3 guys tackle this baby at one time? I'll be in LA on Sunday doing some things as it is, but it's definitely not a problem if I come that Saturday morning and finish up by night. You guys free this weekend?

yeah, automagic trannys need all that extra fuel to power their "magic" automatic shifting qualities.. It still boggles me how that crafty wizard that controls my shifts loves to drop 3rd while I'm doing 60mph out of no where... You win this round Merlin.. Curses...

Definitely. I'm thinking that once I'm done, I can convert or start a new unofficial write up for r3v to read. I'll only have crappy cell pics, but I'm definitely going to document this for sure

my eta got 33 mpg coming down from lompoc, and 27-29 after throwing in a few days of LA city driving as a five speed.

i really wish i could help, but i'm already coming on week 3 of the quarter and i just don't have much free time at all...

this is a good link i've seen for the swap. it's a bit over-simplified, but alongside someone knowledgeable, it shouldn't be a big deal.

Much obliged Mike! Don't let me get in the way of your future; pack out those text books son!
And yeah, thanks for the link; I've been studying Yoshi's writeup like a hawk, And I'm confident that I could even do the swap myself, but it's my first time, and I'd just like to have the proper tools and another person that knows the know-how of how to do the swap did-done-right the first time around for that price of kind, ya'know?

Thanks for the interest though guys!
Hopefully I can get this thing packed out sometime this weekend!

realistically, expect one down for tear-down and another to put it back together...especially if working outside.

So I can expect this to be a 2 day project?
I heard a lot of people being able to pack it out in a day, working close to 10-12 hours straight. But, I guess if I'm looking to document this, it might take a little longer..

people like to say they can do it in a day (some claim as little as four hours), but let's be real here. there will be snags and you will lose patience. i've done 3 manual swaps and i'd still give myself two comfortable days to do it.

Yup yup! That's why I be looking to do my swap ASAP. I'm tired of my slushy throttle response and unexpected downshifts...

I heard the eta swaps are a little harder cause there are more sensors on the tranny and such, but don't ask me honestly cause I don't know anything more about eta's. I'm sure it's all doable with some patience, elbow grease, and good old fashioned hard labor

if you're using an eta trans in an 'i' you can remove the flywheel sensors, but some have early style linkages. if you have an eta with an eta harness, you'll need a trans with the provisions for the flywheel sensors.
