    Question for surfers.

Just got back into the surfing spirit. LAst year I lived close enough to the beach I could just walk my board home. This year, I'm just beyond walking distance. Gonna purchase some roof racks and throw em on top of the old e30.

This may sound silly, but I'm just wondering if there are any extra precautions I should take, besides rinsing off my board, to avoid any residual saltwater damage to the roof.

For that matter, also want to avoid any mildew related damage to the trunk when throwing in my wetsuit.

Any tips would be helpful. Sounds silly? you bet. Better safe than sorry.

Pick up a dakine soft roof rack its easy to install and wont damage your roof and bring a bucket or something to store your wet suit in keeps your car fresh also be careful with your wax it can be a nightmare if it get on your seats

Keep the roof waxed and rinse the top off when you get home. I'd keep a shallow plastic tray in the trunk to toss the wetsuit, too. Make sure you rinse that sucker off as well.

Yes, and I would also love to chat with you about your roadtrip in the e30, as i'm doing the same thing essentially this summer.

I'm not sure if it would scare the crap outta me, but I would definitely make my way out of the water....The shark is exhibiting "curious" behaviour, meaning it's checking out whatever weird object is floating in it's realm. Notice how it's swimming in what appears to be figure-8 patterns, coming in and out of range. It also appears to move in closer and closer each time.

Like I said, I would "exit, stage left", before it got curious enough to give me a bump or take a taste of my flesh. I'm fat, I'm sure I taste like bacon.

There are always shark sightings at San O. Don't mess with them and they don't mess with you. It's more dangerous to be in the water with a seal or sea lion than it is with an actual shark from what I've seen/read.

I've surfed San O a few times and that wave is so good, a shark wouldn't scare me away unless it was murdering people.
