I have a hunch the corporations/people that control the price of gas/oil are not democrats, and they probably think raising the price of gas right before elections puts the incumbant in a bad light. Seeing as how everything bad that happens is the presidents fault it wouldn't be a bad idea to throw this on his shoulders.

Or blame it on accidents and slow downs at refineries and pipe lines.

price of gas has been the highest it's ever been. yes this recent increase is partly due to the accidents on the refineries, however, i am speaking for the steady increase since 2008.

and as a matter of fact, the president and his administration have a huge impact on price of gas. he stopped most of the oil production here within the states and canceled the canadian pipeline because he thought it was too much money put to waste and could spend that money on green energy.

I'm squeaking by just like everyone else financially in California but I'm not going to complain about gas prices. If you don't like them, ride a bike. If your commuting is too far for a bike, carpool and split the cost of gas.

Our dependance on oil will never go away. No matter how hard they make it to pass smog, how high they raise the gas prices or whatever bullshit "green initiative" they want to put forward, we will always have fuel based vehicles driving around. That will never change.

Here's something to stir the pot though:

Diesel is a biproduct of gasoline, yet the price of diesel hasn't changed.

In reality, if the price of gas goes up, so should the price of diesel. but it hasn't. This leads me to believe that its 100% U.S. involvement that's causing the price increase. 90% of vehicles on the road are gas burning vehicles. The U.S. knows that they won't hurt enough people financially by raising diesel prices, ao they raise gas prices. This causes most of the population to consider electric or hybrid vehicles.

The hardest thing to swallow about the prices is that the cost of crude has gone down.

The easiest and most lucrative thing the government could do is make hybrid and electric vehicles affordable. People can hardoy afford to spend $20k on a civic let alone spend $45-50k on a prius.

Anyway, either pay for it or don't. We all know its the government controlling it anyway. If you want to lie to yourself about it, go for it.

I'll keep driving my gas guzzling e30 til they make it illegal. Ill probably still do it after that. lol

The fact of the matter is over time oil is going to get more and more expensive no matter who is running the country, as it will be harder and harder to get to the oil and there for more and more expensive to manufacture it. At some point people, my self included will have to realize that gas cars are on there way out, just like the hores before it. It's the way of things. I don't think that we will ever have to get rid of gas cars, but just like horses, I think they will be relegated to weekends, leisure time, and special events. What's wrong with that. Wouldn't you rather use your dream car for fun and baby it rather then drive it into the ground? The problem is finding a good replacement. I don't hunk electric cars are the answer, and hydrogen is not energy eficiant to produce for now. And what happens to all the old Ford Fiestas and Toyota Corolas that will be left dry on the side of the road by people who can not aford to fill them?
At some point the world will have to move forward. Gas is fun and I LOVE it, but its old tech and I think we can do better.
Untill then dot bitch about gas prices. If you want to keep your car laughs price, if not sell it and buy an Eco car.
