You can go that route. Much easier.

Will be a pita to get it ca bar legal.

I wanted to do an s54 swap awhile back and then went in a diff direction.

If you don't have the ignition, ews, and dme with the coded keys, it costs around 1500 maybe 1000 to get the ecu ews delete.

I could just say im viseting for a few months with family or some BS.

Only problem is that if the Same cop sees you he WILL pull you over.
The way to get out of This is say Your a student who is from out of state.

Maybe find like a CC parking sticker or UTI? I think 7 months out of the year is the max,so he may try to Lie to catch you in a Lie.

you don't want to go through the hassle of paying a guy to pass the car, but you'll go through the hassle of registering it in a completely different state to get by? Sounds ridiculous.

its actually not that big of a hassle when i have to go to the state 2 times a year.

And its a lot easier than doing the swap back to the M20 and then back to the S54. that alone would detour me from doing the swap.

You realize you can just pay for a "special" smog and not swap engines back and forth right?

Depending on where your friend lives in Colo., you will need to pass a Colo. emissions test to register it.

Colo. E test is second only to Calif.
