    Car-B-Q September 2016 in Ventura?

What's going on with this event? Is it going on this year? It what's going on with this event? Is it going on this year? It has been a very good event in the previous years, I hope we don't lose this me like we have lost several others this year.

This topic came up on facebook. Taylor said he isn't available to set up anything this year. I wish I could help set this one up but I don't know anything about the park he rented, or how he organized the raffle from all the companies, or the BBQ team he put together. Without him, I don't see this one happening.

WOW, this is the fourth meet that will not be happening this year. I'm going to have to step up and get things cracking and do some "make up Meets"

      1)BBQ at Griffith Park
      2)E30 picnic in San Diego
      3)Ireland engineering open house
      4)Car-B-Q in Ventura
      5)Archiefest 5 ?

I plan on trying to set some kind of meet/drive up here near Santa Barbara within the next year before I move back down to LA. Keep a look out for that.

I remember only 2 Griffith Park meets that were new to last year.

On the other hand, as "random" as they are, the Landmark Cruises are a relatively new event and seem to be going steady. That's good.

If you really want to see events happen, you'll have to do what I did with the Dockweiler Meet: literally set it up yourself. I don't think that event would have happened this year if I didn't give people a day to show up.

Times are moving on, people move on. Those of us who want to see these traditions continue will have to put in the work. If we don't, no one else will, and no one else will have the opportunity to discover them for the first time.

Seriously though, this sentiment coming from me; I've been in this community for maybe 2-3 years. Not long. I don't know much about the past, and I'm seeing these events that you know well fade away. I don't want to think I came to see the end, which is why I've set up a number of drives throughout the years. The elders/veterans are quietly sitting back without handing down the torch to new hands, possibly because I think they don't see hands worthy of continuing their traditions. Or it could be that everyone is mutually doing their own things, working, trying to make more money with less leisure time. More realistically, the games and the texts on their phones are more entertaining than real human interaction at a car event. Most people today would rather stay at home in front of an interactive screen than go out. Most people wait for an invitation to go out, rather than initiate a reason to go and explore.

Most people hope for a miracle.
