yes, if the car is worth 4k, lets say repair is 3k. I have 1000 left, buying the car back would be likely 800 dollars for a cab. Then I gotta go to inspection, I got to reregister the car, etc etc. 200 bucks is not going to cover it. In fact all that work would be worthless. There is alot of intrisic value to time spent versus a couple hundred bucks.
Need help making decision r3v

Where do you get 800 for a buy back? Most insurance companies have a pretty flat rate for it. You shouldn't have to reregister. Your car is still registered in your name. You do need to redo inspection.
In my case, I just slapped on some new body panels and spent the rest of the money on go fast parts. You'd likely spend it on paint and actually making the car the way it was. For that reason, what happened was probably better/easier in your case. But IMO not all cases.
Status: HG repair. 488wtq though!Comment

if I didnt care, I wouldnt even bother with the paint shop, I would have welded up myself took a hammer to it and leave it the way it is. It would still have look 100% better than most of the e30 guys car. haha which is pretty sad.Comment
