          Actual black carpets are pretty hard to come by. Anthracite is the lighter black (grey) that you see in most e30s.

                Do what I did and buy a really nice Anthracite set and dye it black. Easy, peasy, lemon squeazy...

                    Going to see how this grey carpet cleans up and see how it looks in the car. I have so much other work on my plate right now the dying may have to wait!

                      That may be true, but the actual dying process takes maybe 30 minutes to do. The drying time takes a long time, but if the car is apart and you can do the carpet now, I'd consider doing it now, rather than waiting and having to tear it back apart to get the carpet out. Dye the carpet before you go to bed, in the morning, pop the carpet into the car and let it finish drying in the car...
