Yes- I run Firestone Winterforce on stock wheels and they do just fine.

Well it sounds like I have no excuse but to give it a shot! I'm running 185/65 firestone winterforce, which should give me a little bit more height. Far as skidplate goes, I have a donor so I can just install that. Do we have to sign up for the drivers school and need to be part of scca?

No, just sign up for the test&tune or just sign up and race. It is a blast. I started mid-season last year with a $900 car, a $100 skidplate, and $300 in tires.

Don't ask what I have spent as of now...

I have an m42 and I went all season last year without a skid plate. (I know scary right) But I was fine... only got scared a couple times were there were ruts forming in some of the corners.

we have an e28 running with that setup, and he does take some hard contacts off his skidplate occasionally. I would suggest using a skid if you're going to run lowered.

people who say that are the ones on stock-height cars

yes, snow tires are used by most people. A handful of us use rally tires, and some people use all-seasons, but snows are by far the most popular, especially at Summit.

you can do the school (which is half-day school/half-day test&tune) or just the full-day test&tune. I'd suggest the former if it's your first time out, especially if you don't have previous racing experience.

you can get a daily/weekend membership for $10 - I think SCCA is about $75 for a yearly membership, though it does have other benefits as well.....

No real racing experience, but I have some car control experience and I feel confident to hop out there do the test & tune. I assume we sign up in person?

Guys run A/S tires all of the time, especially if they are fairly fresh. I'd do the skid plate, for sure.

I may be getting the $160 SS skidplate that a guy on the forums is offering. Check the parts for sale section.

Don't worry, I"ve recruited at least 3 EVO guys to give the subie guys something to focus on instead ;)

We may also have a couple Miatas there this year - which could actually be the cars to beat in the RWD classes (Miatas won most of the RWD classes at nationals last year)...

And trust me, nobody is going to get mad at anything. Adam specifically tasked me with expanding our attendance/membership to other car forums and such. That said, most events have a cap of 60 entrants, so now it's going to be more important for people to make sure you sign up for the events quickly and not wait til the last second (or just get a season membership, which is what I do).
