    FREE: Fuel Filter

    Location: Springfield, VA 22150
    1988 325is
    Bosch Fuel Filter for m20

    So I bought a Bosch fuel filter soon after buying my new e30. I open up the trunk, and what do I see? A brand new Bosch fuel filter waiting for me! Now I have 2 and the return shipping cost will be about the same as the cost of the filter.

    CATCH: During my tuneup, I've hit a few speed bumps...

    -Valve adjustment, tried this today and it did not go well... pretty sure i threw off the valve adjustment even more (not sure what the best way is to rotate my engine either...) MAIN thing I need assistance with

    -Fuel filter (can't seem to find it)

    -spark plug wires (not sure where that electrical wire that is ATTACHED, not connected to the other wires goes...)

    -cam seal (I don't even know where to begin)

    Guide me in the right direction with these, and the filter's yours. Car's parked in the street right in front of my house right now, so I won't be able to jack it up until my other car sells (probably why I can't find the fuel filter to begin with).


    Again, not looking for someone to do this for me, rather just guide me in the right direction :up:

    -Fuel filter (next to the tank in front of the left rear tire)

    -spark plug wires ( its called Inductive pickup lead, should be right next to diagnostic plug)

    -cam seal (Access to this is best during timing belt R&R)

      Thanks! Although I'm still even having trouble recognizing when the valves are in the correct position to be adjusted...

          you'll notice when the cam is in the right possition when both the exhaust and intake rockers are flat. as in, the lobes on the cam arent pushing on the rocker.

          cam seals are the little black hexagons that go in the metal of the head at both ends of the cam shafts. sorta pry out the old ones and pop in the new ones.

            Yeah, I had it done with some help and thought I'd done it right... started her up and the ticking was quieter, but still pretty loud.

            Starting to wonder if I should start looking at the fuel injectors...
