Mine goes into storage with the first snow fall.

A friend of mine and I went up to Road America this Sunday for a DE event through MVP Track Time. My e30 and his e30 m3 running in the advanced group. The group was crazy fast. Several monster Vipers, prepped out Lotus Elans, race prepped Mini Coopers with a double decker semi for transport, Z06 vettes, a few STIs, a collection of Porsches. A few well-driven Spec miatas rounded out the slower end of the pack.

Interesting interpretations of DE passing rules during the day. I got dive bombed a few times by folks trying to pass deep in the braking zones of turn 5 and turn 8. Nothing like being between the 2 and 1 brake marker in turn 5 working on your braking, shifting and line and having someone trying to pass you. The whole DE idea of waiting for a point-to-pass was being ignored let alone the idea of having passes complete before the braking zone.

Wild time and good deep end of the pool skill challenge. In a cosmic justice sense by the last sessions the worst offenders had either run off track and were getting towed back to the paddock, or, in the case of the Elan that dive bombed me earlier, overcooking turn 6 and ending axle deep in the pea gravel and possibly saying hello to the tire wall and being flatbedded back to the paddock done for the day and heading for the body shop.

Fun way to end the season.

Thanks! I found this last night too. That was one impressive STI and he was driving it well. In the first few minutes of the clip it's pretty clear that I braked too early into 8 and he closed fast. He was fine. The guys who would pass without point or come up right beside you deep into 5 cutting you off made it wild. One Viper would always pass on the short straight from 5-6 without a point. The point issue aside the passing zone as explained in the drivers' meeting wasn't until 7-8. After a while you just knew it was coming.

The perspective in the clip is great. For example I'm doing 80-90 mph according to my speedo just tracking out of the carousel before heading towards the kink. I'm at around 110-115 when he catches me later in the clip at the crest of the 3-5 straight just before turn 4. It looks like I'm doing 35. The STI was fast.

Haha nice pics, that's what I like to see. I was figuring I'd be one of the few e30's left romping around in Milwaukee this winter.... No reason to store a rusty IX, even if it is 2wd :(

Lol I like the second pic... parked next to a jeep. That first pic reminds me of the flood in mid-July, the water might have been higher though
