So due to recent developments, guess what my new favorite engine is. The M60B40. 4.0L V8 with 282 hp, and it is the most evil sounding engine I have ever heard. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJep6m5Uaj0
I know, no worries, I guess I just missed the link.

    M60 your e30, I dare ya.

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

      i know, right??

I have been inspired by that guy's V8 swapped Audi A4, i can do the same thing to my E30 with an M60 and make it ear-splittingly loud....

M60's been done before. Do an S62 instead, so much more win.

        Or M70 V12.

Or for the most awesome E30 ever, S38 that bitch. Just be ready for $11k engine rebuilds.

An OBDI S52 will blow the POS S50 out of the water.

and an OBD1 S52 costs the same as a lightly modded same power/torque S50, if we're going to compare apples to apples. Possibly a cammed S50 too depending what deals you can get.

An OBD1 S52 will only blow a stock S50 out of the water. Throw the same money at either and you'll get similar power/torque values, or similar to the point of realizing no appreciable difference.

ladies, its all about what deals i can get and when. If i can score an S52 pretty cheap and locally, then S52 it is. If i get an M60B40 for cheap, then M60 it is. Ultimately that is what it comes down to.

And that means nix on the S38 business, i am not exactly raking in the money, nor am i completely in charge of where the money goes.

So convincing the wife to let me dump the cash for an S50/S52 will be a feat in itself.

Sam - I used to watch the E28 clip every day. What a wicked beast-like sound - must be in a canyon of some sort.

Then, I strongly considered buying this: http://www.akgmotorsport.com/e30v891.html but chickened out (was slightly over my budget). Take a look at how much welding is involved before you consider the M60. I've also heard the engine is not as bullet proof as the S5X (I think it has two water pumps - IIRC). Seems like a pain to maintain.

What ever you do - I hope it's fun!!!

you are in love with the M60B40 E28 as well? heh heh....

yeah i will definitely have to get rich first and get a house with several garages, and lifts and welders and such before i tackle an M60 E30 swap. Until then, I will be quite content with an S50.

But, if an M60 bolts right into an E28, I may strongly consider that as well...

I would use headphones so I could listen to that howling, shrieking monster without waking the family. I wish you didn't resurrect it for me - now I'll be spending too much time wanting that machine again. I love the part about 2 minutes in where you can hear it wailing and you see the headlights (but not the car) going crazy the distance (tank-slapping???). :D

David, all I'm saying is that there is a reason why all the guys who track a 95 end up with an OBDI S52 or a Euro motor/S54 (mainly because they dropped a valve due to a faulty retainer, or the head-gasket failed between 5&6).

The S52 is capable of 275whp with sunbelt race cams, headers, etc. The highest I ever saw out of an S50 with sunbelts was 260 or so with similar mods.

That extra .15L that the S52 has makes even more of a difference the more the motor is modded.

Well when the time comes, give me the price to beat and I'll see what I can do for you. Test drive is also a possibility. ;)

Roland, it's like you want me to hate you lol. What are you thinking "cheap"? Tranny and accessories, DME, keys, etc.? You can PM me... Like I said, it's most likely not an immediate reality, but down the road hopefully.

Bishop will most likely have the funds for this, because he doesn't have a kid (yet) besides, i think he had dibs. But only if he lets me help him do the swap. ;)
