Ca: lots of barely legal south of the border friends working at smog stations. Ocean, big sur, yosemite, death valley, tahoe, san francisco (besides the nutty kins), montery, eureka area.

Oh yeah, laguna seca, buttonwillow, willow springs, thunderhill, summit, and california speedway.

It's a tough call. MI has open space and nicer people. Summers would be fun, 8 months of horrid winters, no MTNs, etc. CA is the most beautiful state in the country, but it's so fucking crowded. Everything takes 1/2 an hour, even a 5 minute drive to the store. I lived there for 3 years and had to get the fuck out just because of the population density. If I had to choose it would be CA, but I would spend 6 months alone in the desert to even out how crowded it's goin to be.
