318is - what to look for

I thought I would just post this here. I was too busy to search and I know there are a few 318is's here.

There is a super cheap 318is on craigslist. Stupid cheap. I was thinking of picking it up depending on a few things. Is there anything that HAS to be done to these cars service wise. Example: buying a M20 you pretty much have to change the timing belt. Are there certain parts on the M42 that fail often that should be looked at?

Pull the valve cover and check the condition of the cam gears. If they're pointy, plan on several hundred dollars of parts in the timing case.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

yup, i actually tried to buy that car. Literally was within one mile of the guy's house and he calls me and says someone else just handed over the cash for the car.

So which one of you knuckleheads bought that car out from under me?? ;);)
