Roland, I think I may have found you a pretty dang clean E30 for ya. Its an '86 super ETA in what appears to be in fairly mint condition, the sport interior is very intact, and they want $1400 OBO, (emphasis on OBO). http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/cto/1847702673.html

Its in Albuquerque, but I am heading down there this weekend if you want me to take a look at it, so let me know!! (my email is iamthenomad at gmail dot com, quickest contact other than my cell, which is 443 907 7246)

          Sweeeeeeeet!

          I wan't an "es" and I don't know why.

Honestly though, that probably is a good buy. You can sell the pistons and such online to make some cash back.

yeah, I guess the "es" is the sport version of the economy version of the standard E30. What does that make it? A perfect candidate for an OBDI S52 swap, that's what!

I'll shoot you a text tomorrow, but if you get this first, please do go look at it.

                It's either S52 E30 or this.

So here are the pics, The body looked almost perfect, but the interior was rough, except for the sport seats that looked like they were re-upholstered in vinyl. The engine ran perfectly and the clutch worked perfectly but the shifter bushings were SHOT. You can't get it into 2nd gear at all, and the rest of the gears are easy enough to find, but its quite a trek from gear to gear.

I would say the car may be worth $900-1000 IF its only the shift linkage, which it should be, because the guy seemed honest and he said that that was the BMW mechanic's diagnosis.

                          So enjoy.

here is what you are going to do: IF you buy it, I will volunteer to drive down there again to pick it up. With you or someone of course to help drive/tow it back. Because every time I go to Albuquerque I have a freakin blast. But you have to pay for gas though because I am shit-ass broke.

Oh and one of my buddies down there may be wanting this for a rally car, but I would consider his interest to be a passing fancy rather than a serious concentrated interest, so I wouldn't worry about it.
