I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that generally all car companies have lots of reliabillity problems at some time or another and have all made there fair shares of crappy cars.

I have also never seen a ford engine that costs 1/3 the price of a a chevy eninge.

Also the new fod 5.0 makes within 6 horsepower with 1.2 less litres!

How many ford engines have you worked on? I've done everything, from the old 460s, my current 351M/400, 351Cs, 5.0s, etc. All a major pita to work on, designed by bumbling idiots. Sure, the new ones might make more power, but I guarantee they still suck to work on. An engine is first measured by it's serviceability (chevy wins here), then by it's reliability (again, the win goes to chevy), then by it's cost (too many variables), and finally by it's power potential (chevy wins here).

That being said, I would take the new mustang. Better-than-E92 performance for <$35k? yes please. But if I did have $35k to blow on cars, it would be on a C5 Z06 and an S2000.

Stock for stock, but the chevy has a cheaper hp/dollar ratio when you start modding, and always has.

First Gen Taurus SHO's were all 5spd, second gen were all Autotragic and way slower.

You talk to any hot rodder, any real hot rodder, and he will tell you to use a Chevy small block and a Ford 9inch rear end.

I am not too familiar with the generations of the SHO. The one I speak of is the ugly one made in the 90s. And it was automatic.

Also, I have heard many good things about the Ford 9" rear.

Funny how my dad is a hot rodder and this is exactly what he did in his '34 Ford.

                      It's like the M/S50 in a E30, or Duratec3.0 in a Contour it's what everyone does.

Crate motors from both companies cost about the same, but the LSx are pricier than Ford variant stock vs stock. Go look.

Used, you can get the 5.0 HO 302 motor for ~$600. You cannot get a first gen unmodded stock LS1 for less than $2500. Go look.

What motor are you even comparing the Ford 5.0 to? The 6.2 LS3/6? Look at its torque numbers, they blow the Ford out of the water. The LS6 is lighter. Easier to service. Far more reliable (the parable about a small block Chevy lasting forever is because it's true. You cannot kill one. Ford = fix or repair daily.)

I'd take the new Mustang in a heartbeat, it's a great car. Saying a Ford motor is better than a SBC is just retarded though.
