I'm from Ellicott City, MD.
So it was legitimately supposed to snow last night...

Subarus are awesome winter cars.....but they can't save you from lack of paying attention, your own stupidity, or your inability to put proper tires on the car. Just saying.Comment

Ha - yeah that was me that looked at your car. Small world. I was looking at the E23. I was going to put dictator flags on it and use it as an airport car! The interior was freaking awesome. I decided to go with an E30 instead. God I wish I had that interior in my E30.Cloudbase, didn't you come look at one of my cars once to buy? I can't remember which one for the life of me, but I remember the Mcoupe with the gunmetal wheels and angel eyes... maybe you were looking at my Alpine 318is, or was it my E23? can't remember....
And awesome pics btw!
Yeah I grew up in Newark, DE, and then Elkton, MD, and I went to school (for a bit) at UMBC, and now I have transferred to CU. definitely some good memories in MD, but Baltimore was definitely a stinky armpit of a place. No offense to Ellicott city, but where I lived (Catonsville), it was a pretty nasty area.
and BTW... it is legitimately snowing now! And i even saw my first subaru station wagon wreck of the year! Some subie plowed into the back of some SUV right outside my work. ha ha dang subaru drivers!!
(oooh i just pushed a LOOOT of buttons here! ;) )
I was back in MD last weekend. I couldn't wait to get the fuck out. I moved to SF for a few years, then Salt Lake, then lived in my truck for a year, then settled in Boulder. Ellicott City has a certain charm and the mountain biking in Patapsco is some of the best anywhere. But the people are just mean, it's crowded as fuck, and there are so many stupid rules. I used to call it the land of No. Baltimore is a dingy city man. I used to work downtown. That place sucks.
Kershaw go to SF man. It's crowded as fuck too, but I used to wake up to the Pacific Ocean, the Golden Gate, and coastal hills. Growing up in MD you'll never take that shit for granted. It's foggy, but your used to the clouds - they are just a little bit closer to the ground!JOY IS AN E30...

and right on about everyone being pissed off on the east coast! The mentality is get offended/pissed first, ask questions later!
So what E30 did you pick up?? if you got it on CL, chances are I'll recognize it!! do you have pics?Comment

I got an '89 325i from Arvada, 195k miles, new top end, $2800. It was on Craig's in August. I think I paid a little too much, but was in a pinch. If I had waited a month I would have bought Chris's '88IS for a little more as it has everything I've been doing the past month and is an IS.

I'm going to post a proper build thread, but need to finish up a few more bits first. Can't decide if I want to drive to Aurora to pick up an Oil Level Sender. I think I saw one on a vert down there. I cleaned the hell out of mine, but it's still toast.
Going to sand and paint an IS spoiler today and hopefully install my EURO Smileys too.JOY IS AN E30...

^^^ nice!!! yeah i don't remember that one, August was a while ago. $2800 ain't bad if it is in as good a condition as it looks. a good straight clean body is worth something.
what are you planning for suspension?
and the fact that it isn't an iS is offset by the fact that it's a late model w/ plastics. No one likes diving boards. besides, the only difference between that and an iS is the seats, diff, suspension, and rear trunk spoiler.Comment

It's in fair condition, but is possible of being brought back. The body is straight. There is a rust spot under the right front fender. Looks like a drain hole got clogged some where. The clear coat is peeling on the roof. Dash has more cracks than the grand canyon. Driveshaft had horrible roar, took care of most of that. It had horrible running issues, that I hope I have finally solved with a new coolant temp sensor. There is air somewhere in my brakes. I've already replaced the lines and master cylinder. I've bled it 5 times manually and with a pressure bleeder. I'm hoping the replacement master cylinder was just bad. I replaced the diff with a 3:73 LSD, but it is pretty loud. I think some of it might be the right rear wheel bearing.
As far as suspension I was going to go with Bilstien Sports with springs, there was a god used set on Craig's last month. I'd like to lower it slightly when I get my BBS RGR's mounted. But I have to fix all the more pertinent issues first.JOY IS AN E30...

So I'm going to hazard an educated guess and say it won't proper snow till next year.

and yes, this lack of god's dandruff is really beginning to get annoying.Comment
