With a 2.93 first is barely usable, I can't imagine gearing higher. But I have one hidden away waiting for the track if I ever get there. :-D
I think that your math is backwards. For track you would typically want a lower gearing like a 4.10 in an e30 for better acceleration. For a street car you would want a higher gearing such as a 3.73 for lower cruising rpms and increased gas mileage.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.
4.10 was the best money I spent on my car. 80+ is a little stupid but w/e. It almost matches not having a OD gear at all. That's what I love about the Ti. No overdrive 5th gear from the factory.
