    Air care colorado sucks

    I hate them.

The morons wouldn't test my car because there were 'brake warning lights on' on the dash.

They said if I could fix them, they would test it.

I parked out front, pulled the cluster, yanked bulbs, tidy'd it all up and went back.

THEN they said they wouldn't test it because the parking brake light didn't come on when you engage the parking brake.

REALLY????!!!! FUCK YOU AIR CARE COLORADO YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO TEST EMISSIONS, NOT DASH LIGHTS, YOU ASSHATS!

I'm pissed off because I know I can fix the lights and make everything work properly, but I don't have time right now(and its fucking cold outside)I ho, and my temp tag expires at the end of the month. Now because of the idiots who look at idiot lights I have to find time to put my interior back together before I have all my new bits, so I'll have to do the work twice.

I hope they all crash their POS buicks on the way home today.

emissions laws in general are ridiculous, as well as emissions testing stations.

Go somewhere else, I have passed with non-working lights + random lights on.

To be fair, part of the emissions test is a basic road safety vehicle test. I've passed with a CEL and other lights, no working horn, and illegal harnesses at the one in broomfield by Bimmerhaus before though.

I stated this last time when I went... should've done it before going. They are bunch of no knowledge garbage that think know about cars.... if you would be to ask them where or how do all the lights relate to any potential danger .... well you would get a retarded answer.

Well now I've spent some time diagnosing why the lights are on, and it appears I may have a wiring issue. NOT THAT IT AFFECTS SAFETY OR EMISSIONS, I think they were just scared of the beast.

I think I've got it figured out and now I just need to test my hypothesis. The lights are only on dimly. For example, when you pull the parking brake, it lights up fully bright and when you let it off it dims. I'm wondering if I don't have a wire improperly connected at the alternator, so the panel is always seeing current (as from a sense connector and not a field connector). I'm diagnosing now to make it all better without putting everything back together.

The manager at the station did say that the light checking only relates to brakes or check engine, and that it is a new condition of emissions testing. Fuckers, I DIDN'T VOTE FOR MORE REGULATIONS. ARGH.

how does insurance change with an engine swap?

I would assume the insurance would run the vin and give you a policy based on the 318 the vin would return back, but I am wondering because an e-test place should notice an inline 6 in the engine bay vs a straight 4 that the vin returns...

Would they even care? i would think this might be a red flag for an e-test facility and/or insurance company but then again i'm sure a lot can get past them.. any more info on this?

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

Emissions said it doesn't matter as long as all the required emissions equipment is there.

With my insurance I only have liability and they said they don't care...

Lol, move to WI. I took in my rusty 2002 for emissions and they didn't say a thing. You can see through the shock towers, the fenders, and the passenger footwell. Passed emissions with flying colors.

Or just go to a state that has no emissions.
