Give dicks a shot anyways, just verify it is a school function and for the greater good of society.

I definitely will. It's the easiest option. Loveland has a dog track too if I remember right, we brought the fsae car there a few times.

David, why don't you as Chris? He may have hookups through SCR.

Roland, you know of any places that'd be ok with 6hrs or so of us using about 250sq ft of lot?

                I don't see why not

Hell yes! I was thinking of in car, out of car, and a couple left/right cameras would be sick. It's a poster presentation, but I fully intent on making a video and youtube-ing/having laptop set up next to the poster.

Carmen Pacheco. I don't know if she was sr lab prof last sem, but she did measurements then.

BMW/SCCA does indeed pay to use the lot and it is not cheap and there are legal and liability issues that need to be sorted out.

And I may have a set of 255s in the near future. When are you guys planning on doing this testing?

250 sq ft for your skidpad?

                    That's what I thought.

We'd be testing around spring break-time. One group member isn't here over break, so probably a weekend before. I'd like to wait for better warmer weather. When would you be getting the tires? If you get em by the test, I'd love to borrow em.

200 ft diameter for the skidpad itself, then setup room and runoff room

haha. That'd be fun, but wouldn't accomplish what I'm trying to do.

Have to get tires before track season.

                              I think you meant 250ft * 250ft, aka 62500sq ft. 250sq ft is a small apartment.

                                good catch!

so after exploring options a bit, the experiment might change. Instead of setting up a skidpad and doing lat g vs tire width and camber tests, we're also thinking of going to High Plains Raceway and doing camber vs rear compression vs lap time (using either our FSAE team's Motec data acq system or a custom made ghetto system with my laptop). I like the second one better, personally, because I can then pull the data I need for the class as well as set up shock pots to dial in my shocks, figure out dynamic tire temps rather than static pit-lane temps, brake temps, steering angle, brake and throttle position/percentage, gear/rpm, wheel speed, lat/long g and yaw, and more.

Given our $75 total budget, and that a winter lapping day at HPR is $100, and I should be able to acquire sensors and system for free....the second option sounds a lot more fun and data-worthy. We'd need a proper driver though, since I'm nowhere near knowledgeable enough at HPR to give consistent laptimes.

We're still exploring options, but both are competing ideas.
