I will charge my camera and take some pics tonight. In my 89 I've got euro ellips with unknown bulb temp and wattage, and in my iX smilies(cracked) with 55w 5000k.

I'll try and get cutoff pics and 'oncoming vantage' pics

Brad, there's a lot of misinformation (new for the web right?). There seems to be plenty running 55w without issue so I wouldn't worry about it. I even read somewhere the OEM bulbs are 55w, so people running 35w are running a cooler setup. I'm done with my 35s I believe...

Get the 55w 4500K then let's compare them so I know if I should upgrade.

I would advise against DDM for now too

              This is what I got:

No problems with overheating. I've had them in for at least 3 months. But as a warning on color, DDM says this: "All projectors can vary in color. Our colors are true to our description. Bulb colors can appear to be different based on outside factors, such as the type of headlight you are putting them in and they way the light is being reflected or projected out of them."

With that said, I'd say that their picture of the light output of the 4500K is accurate.

Thing is, using a decent camera I could take 10 pictures of the same bulb and have each one look different. DDM has become a front for cheap/unknown quality HIDs. DDM's quote in legal terms means they can sell you whatever they want.

I ordered some ones off ebay that are supposed to be better. I can keep you posted...

Everyone should read this. Use a warmer color light, you will get more lumen output and it will not blind other drivers.

My cars may end up with selective yellow fogs and high beams.

                      Plus it looks awesome.

Yeah, we all know about the lumen and color temp. The hard part is getting companys (DDM) to actually sell you the correct color temp you want!

You get what you pay for. I don't get it really...$55 for a pair of HIDs and expect quality when a pair of quality halogen bulbs costs $30....come on, really?

                          Color me completely unsurprised.

Yep, which is why I got the HID's. Brighter then the $30 bulbs I tried first.

brighter, yes, but with suspect quality control.

Color temp aside, I have been very pleased with my DDMs. $55 and they work well. Same with my friends that have had them running for years with no issues. I can't complain too much about a slight off-temp. Sure beats the dangerous sealed beams.
