I have heard from some buddies back in MD that the frame rails can crack fairly easily and that they should be boxed before undertaking any serious off-roading.

Class 3-4 is just fine with a lifted Jeep with no reinforcements. I guess if they are doing higher grade rock crawling with major articulation you might want to reinforce stuff, but either way the ability for a stock XJ to offroad is incredible. Expecially for the price of them.

Yeah, for rock crawling or anything involving big torsion loads on the body you would want welded seams and frame bracing. But for high speed it holds up fine as is.
