Insurance Policies that Accept Vehicle Modifications

Just a word of caution: Safeco has a "stated value" option (you tell them the value of the vehicle) but - alas - when I made a claim (about 6 years ago) with such a provision in place, they wouldn't give me what I had stated.
They do, however, allow me to turn my insurance off when it's not in use (85% of the time) so I save on my premiums. Does anyone else know of an insurance company that offers that?

When i got rear ended in my extremely obviously modded m3, the adjuster came out and looked at it, took pictures, and that was that. No rate increase.
Amica is freaking awesome, they had cut me a check within a week to cover all damage without fighting, less my deductible. When they finally got the other company (allstate) to pay up, they wrote me a check for my deductible also. I am never going with another company, even though Amica's rates are somewhat high.
I know Greg got his mods covered when his car was totalled since he had receipts, but I don't remember what company he has.

^ yep.
i hit a log in the middle of the road in my rx8. i swerved and just barely hit it. but it cracked my front bumper (and blew apart my rim, and scratched all the way down the car. $4500 later..) i have a full buddy club body kit. geico paid for everything to be fixed.
another time i was driving in the winter and there was a pothole of no snow/ice that was so deep that when my front tire went into it, it cracked my sideskirt. geico also fixed that no questions asked.

They laughed, told me good luck and hung up.
Originally posted by samiam3356State Farm is similar. They cover what I have done to the car as long as I can show documentation. I actually expected to pay more for the coverage and would have been fine with paying more but that said no need.
I will look into Farmers, Liberty Mutual, Progressive, and American Collectors.
Keep the details coming; I need all the info I can get.

Also the government have people who can pull you over at side of road and check your car chassis or engine number match that on database, thats rare but it happens. I used to have a E30 316i poverty spec running an M52 2.8 and the insurance company were not told about engine and I was in an accident I would lose my licence as I'd have my insurance cancelled in a similar fashion to drink driving. Thats what I meant by getting a track type policy as at free will you can get away with nearly anything from engine to suspension and be covered with all mods included. I'm not sure how the law works yourside of the Atlantic but here modified cars get pulled by cops and they are hard to insure. Anyone under 23 trying to insure a car in the UK can expect to pay 5000 GBP which is about 7500 USD for a 1.4 VW Golf Front wheel drive. Its tough here. I'm lucky being 24 and knowing how to insure my cars and having a leaniant insurance provider.
I'm glad I live on this side of the Atlantic. That sound like a real nuisance, having people make sure that your car is still stock. Sounds like California.

Right. I can add coverage beyond my own receipts per 1,000 dollars. It works out well AND they give BMWCCA discounts :)

I have american collectors on my M3. Set value, appraised. $18,000 value insured no questions asked. 7,500 mile/year cap. $85 month for same liability/collision/comprehensive insurance I had with allstate. $1k deductible. Covers $1,500 in spare parts as well.
