Winter park snowboard trip Nov 23rd

So, this thread is for when I go up with all my brothers from out East, and for anyone else who wants to (and should!) join.

First off, turkey day is the 24th, what day is better to go, 23rd or the 25th?

Everyone has off work on the 25th, and it's black friday, not sure what that translates to as far as slope cloggage...

Sounds a little early for good snow. Where in the east are you heading?

dude! My brothers are coming HERE from out east (MD), and we are going to snowboard at 12,000-14,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains. There will be snow.

I have been snowboarding every year for the last five years at Thanksgiving and there is normally only one or two runs open, with crappy snow. Don't waste your money unless you have a season pass.

Also the highest run at Winter Park is just at 12k, not up to 14k.

I've not had much consistent luck with thanksgiving boarding either, it will probably be crap snow and short runs open. HOWEVER if we get some good snowfall in the next 2 weeks it could be really good. Probably about 6 years ago, maybe 7, I don't remember, we went up on black friday and there were only a few runs open but we were in 6" of champagne powder...

Looking for a clean e30 shell for a project.

It's been consistently cold here so they've been making snow like crazy, but the deciding factor will be how many storms we get between now & the end of the month. Last year pretty much the whole mountain was open by Thanksgiving, but only time will tell. Also, you can get coupon books from King Soopers or some other grocery store that have 2-4-1 lift ticket coupons in 'em, to save some bucks on lift tickets. I say go for it, your family will have fun, even a bad day of early season snowboarding in CO is better than a good day anywhere on the east coast.

Last year was pretty good, normally it hasn't been though. It is fun just for the novelty of being in the mountains for Thanksgiving imo.

I have the entire week off, wife out of town, and a season pass. Yeah, I will be up there regardless of the weather :)

No disrepect ot WP/MJ but Loveland Basin on Turkey weekend has been the place I take my boys every year on TGW. Small crowds and usually pretty good snow. This year will be # 6 in row for LVLD on TGW.

I will agree with the small crowds but, last year they only had two or three runs open from what I recall, and the hill itself really leaves a lot to desire. It may just be that I have been there so many times though...

At Loveland, Andy can't hook us up like he can at WP. ;)
