This is an awesome angle to see where you are placing the car! I'll have to try it out next time I'm on track. Inside the cockpit is also good for seeing what you are doing, but sometimes it blocks what the car is doing.
I may not be correct on these observations, but I have a few. Anybody else feel free to chime in.
Turn 1 - you can track out more. This is a really fast corner, faster than it looks.
turn 2 - I'm not sure how to attack this yet, lots of guys go way left and deep, but the instructor at the BMW school said to stay middle on entry and come in closer to the apex as the turn progresses. He says a lot of people waste time going way wide for no gain in exit speed.
turn 3 - you can track out more here too. This is a ballsy corner to take at full speed, but if you don't, your left with lots of space left at the end of the turn. I'm guessing you loose 2-3mph at the end of the straight by lifting just a little more than you needed to at corner entry
turn 9? - (after the esses) missed the apex by a few feet. I aim to stick my front wheel on the inside of the curbing, and let the centrifugal force of the car pull you away just a little bit. Plus, in this corner your outside wheel is hard loaded, so if you put a inside tire off a little, it won't upset the balance of the car much.
Sweet! It can be great fun to bring a stock car out. Sometimes we do so much to the car to make it faster, it looses the dynamics and fun of tossing a car around!
I'm not bringing the E30 again. The old front struts are boxed up to head to the new owner, and the new struts are being sent to vorshlag to be repaired/modified. I should have just bought E36 stuff, and sold off the E30 M3 parts. Getting the E30 M3 stuff to work correctly is costing WAY too much money :(
I'm thinking about bringing the E28 out, but it's got the death wobble at 45-55, and the last two times i've driven it, the motor has had a momentary hickup under acceleration. First time I was out, it stalled twice coming up to a light too. The car runs fine in all conditions, and I can't replicate the hesitation, it just does it at random. I'm not sure I want it to be doing this at full load, high RPM... that would be an expensive mistake!
I need a 1991 318is.

First: Who is going on Saturday? Let's figure out who and set up the convoy again.
Second: MOAR VIDS! (I'm a video whore)
Definite room for improvement on my driving, and the times are a good bit slower than the above posted video, but these vids show some of the awesome cars that were out that day. Also shows the herpers and derpers on track.
Enjoy!

I had a great time too. I can't complain when a 100% stock car with all-season tires still does a good job. It was a blast.Leave a comment:

Got video of my fastest laps uploaded so far, working on another vid. Best lap was 2:13.23
Can't wait to go out again on saturday.Leave a comment:

Perfect weather, great day. I got down to 1:59.6 in my M3 - I'm happy to have broken the barrier and gotten into sub 2-min territory.
No mechanical problems for any of the r3v crew - Lots of fun was had.

That really sucks! I was looking forward to a ride :)I'm out too, one of my swaybar end links has a fubared thread on the eyebal. After retreading it, you can see that the bolt has been stretched, and now the nut no longer holds the stud tightly. Hopefully hpr will credit me for next weekend.
Soo... What are some quality swaybar end links?
Take the M5?Leave a comment:

How many people will have a seat for a rider? I might have a friend that wants to go along for rides/pictures.Leave a comment:

Not sure if I'll meet for the convoy, I'll have to stop in Byers for fuel anyways. But I'll be at the gate by 8:55 at HPR.
NOTE: If you have an M3 or something like it, the fuel will only last about 4 sessions if you're driving full sessions. Bring 2x 5-gallon gas cans if you want to avoid a trip back to Byers and lost track time.
The last 2 winter days I've been at, by 2pm the crowd was so thin that they eliminated sessions and just let everyone out (and at that time, that meant no more than 10 cars on track.) TONS of seat time!Leave a comment:
