    Tire mounting

Does anyone have a good hook-up for mounting tires. I can't get ahold of my guy that does it on the cheap and I really don't want to spend $90 to get my tires mounted.

go to a used tires shop to get your tires mounted, there is a shop that i have gone to by my house that will mount and balance a set of tires for $10/wheel

I'd also like to know this. It'd be nice to hear from others with experience rather than just hoping a shop won't mess up my M-Parallels.

any shop that does service has to have insurance to cover damages.

unless you personally do it, you are always taking a risk to let others do it for you.

Ah, good to know. At least, they're *supposed* to have insurance :P

Discount Tire has never charged me anything close to $90 for mounting, maybe more like 50-60 if I remember correctly ..

les schwab is at least 90

                another local place is 120

costco used to be like 20.. but they stopped doing it for outside tire purchases. bummer.

there's a place in the sticks that will do them for $1.50 each (not kidding) but they definitely don't have any kind of insurance and it's highly likely they'll damage something. I go there to have tires disposed of, I'd never go there to have r-comps or something mounted.

don't know what discount is now, but last time it was around $60-70.

its not just the mounting you pay for, its also balancing.. which is just as much pain in the ass as mounting.

remember, you get what you pay for, either way

i didnt get my DZ1's mounted there as i bought them with tires, but i have had truck tires mounted there. So i'm not completely sure how safe it would be on low pro tires but i'll look into it.

$60 for a M&B. Great guys, but more of a dropoff service, if that works for you.

I've been thinking of seeing if Discount or Les will price match them.

Also, Tight n Tidy Racing down in Renton offers a similar service for $50/set.

You can never go wrong with Skips out in Beaverton. Last I went there he charges $20/wheel to mount and balance.

All the guys at the Discount Tire on 99 in Tigard are awesome and I know Curt always uses the one in Clackamas.

Have had nothing but good thing to say about them
I used to go there when I lived in Vancouver. Other than them not paying attention and mounting front and rear tires on the wrong wheels, they always did a good job for me too.

Les Schwab cracks me up. They will never see a dime of my business if I can help it! Some days you'll get quoted $50 to mount and balance, other days you'll get quoted $300! No joke.

I usually use ftl however Marek is in Houston and I cant get ahold of Russ. Normally I would just wait but I need the tires mounted asap.

I'll try Tight n Tidy Racing. thanks for the link
