    e30 Trailer Conversion

A friend and I obtained an 88 325is for 400 with some frame damage, and parted it out. We are now trying to turn it into a tailgater trailer (half bbq with room for a cooler and misc party supplies). We are trying to decide whether to keep the IRS, or put in a solid rear axle... Any opinions or suggestions? Also, if we do keep the IRS, we need another differential (my friend used the 4.10 LSD on his). Hopefully someone can donate an empty case from a LSD conversion if we do go the IRS route. TIA.

why would you need the diff in there? You trying to have a 2wd trailer or something?

Okay, so I wouldn't have to have any sort of thing connecting the wheels to one another? Asking all the stupid questions before starting is probably a good thing.

They would be connected via the rear subframe.

you still need the stubs of the axles inside the hubs. or your bearings won't last long..

Well, I should have said pull the diff and the axles up to the outer CV joint then.

exactly, Cut the axels right behind the bearing. That way it will keep the split bearing together. Other wise, Like nando said. That bearing will be shot
Make sure you take the CV apart after you cut it. Or you will get it slinging parts.
