definitely the TU motor, has dual VANOS. But isn't that an m54 intake mani? or did the TU motor come with those too?

He is saying that is is fact a M52TU which means that it has dual vanos. Hoveringuy, a member of R3v lives in Seattle and has an M54 in his e30, so he would be a good resourse if you were looking to put this motor in your car. But make sure you get ECU and EWS stuff because I am not too sure they have a good way to remove EWS in the OBD2 ecu.

It is a good deal, makes me wish i have waited until this came along... But I still love my M50, and it isn't like I had much a choice in when my M20 went.

The M52tu is basically a 2.8 litre M54. There are a few small differences.

For all of the differences between the m52, m52tu and M54 see this, very interesting

and, yes, it will run OBD1 just fine. Offer $500 and you've got a pretty screamin' deal!
