    Gonna turbo the ix

Ok so I wanna turbo my ix. I need to find out what pistons I should use and all that jazz. I really have no idea what Im doing besides doin a normal rebuild. I am tryin to put together a parts list that I might be buying as soon as Jan 20th. So if There is anyone out there that would have an idea as to where to start I would love the input.

So I've looked on ebay and I can get a turbo kit for a grand and then I figure another 1500 to do the lower end and pistons. does that sound about right assuming I dont need to do any top end work besides maybe a cam and a valve adjustment?

This is a very cool story, even cooler if you use an intercooler.

Not to mention you'll have to beef up your awd diffs. Those spider gears are weeny for any real power.

not sure if Im gonna go for max boost Diego, but I wanted to make it about 400bhp so I can just use my original running gear until I have the money for a full overhaul of the complete car.

you can do 300-400bhp without having to modify the drivetrain, you just can't do hard drag launches (which is why that other guy breaks front diffs).

To get there though, you have a long road ahead of you. I'd suggest joining E30 tech (or at least lurking) to get a good idea of what you need to do. for 300bph, a quick/proven recipie is a Holset HX35, turbo manifold adapter, ebay intercooler, and engine management of your choice.

yeah I haven't decided what turbo/parts I was gonna go with but I figured if I posted about it I would get enough feed back and I could ask questions. But I was thinkin about just rebuilding the lower end (has new head) and maybe changing the pistons and cam and then just turboing it from there.
