425 Motorsports will be providing some nice discounts on April 2 for the Sport Driving Tech Session. Here is the message Dan Reiss sent me:

"Everything will be on sale at 10-50% off. Most items will be 20% off but we have some closeout items that will be 50% and some items that we just can't give more than 10% IE: Hans Devices. Feel free to word that however you like. If we don't have what someone wants, we will ship it to them and honor the discount."

For anyone with Snell Year 2000 helmets that will be expiring soon, 20% off of helmets is pretty rare.

Please remember to RSVP to me off-line if you plan to attend on Saturday. Name, number of guests, and car. E-mail me at: Lance@Richertnet.comLance Richert '88 M3, #35 PRO3, i3 etc.

So the first driving event is April 28 at Pacific Raceways in Kent. The Car Control Clinic does not need a tech inspection. The HPDS will need a tech form completed by an ASE certified mechanic. here is a link to the tech form:

From the BMW Club's web site:
"A technical inspection will be required for every driver’s car in advance of a track event. This inspection consists of a thorough examination of the driver’s car by a qualified ASE certified mechanic. Inspections focus on engine compartment condition, brakes, tires, suspension, steering, etc., in an attempt to ensure that cars have adequate systems before they are driven on the track. This driving activity and the speeds being driven dictate that drivers cannot afford to be casual with the safety of their car. To ensure the safety of all our participants, we must insist on a proper safety inspection being carried out by a qualified individual. This is for the drivers benefit and safety as well as for the safety of other drivers on the track"

Any reputable shop can do the inspection. However a few BMW Club friendly shops have agreed to do the inspection for $35. They are:

 Auburn Foreign Car - Auburn (253) 833-8161
 Boyles Foreign Car - Lakewood (253) 588-8669
 Bristow's Automotive - Tacoma (253) 471-1663

from a driving book I once read
I consider other racecars to be part of the track. Therefore, the racetrack is constantly changing as their positioning in relation to me changes. You’ll be much more successful in your racing if you concentrate on your own performance rather than on the competition. So if you think the competitors cars as simply changes in the track layout, you’ll be more relaxed and able to achieve your own peak performance. - talladega alabamaComment
