Get a used cylinder head or buy a new valve. It's not like individual valves are soooooo expensive.

    Exhaust Valve

Alright man, let me throw some useful shit at you.

First, bent valves go in the trash. Second, new valves are not that expensive, but the tools necessary to remove and re-install them are.

My suggestion would be try and find a decent valve or three in a cracked head, buy/rent/borrow a valve spring compressor, remove cam/lifters/etc. and try your hand at removing a valve from the known bad head.

Once you feel proficient at removing them (it ain't hard) go ahead and pull ALL the valves out of your head, inspecting each one (and the retainer) carefully, as in magnifying glass kind of thing looking for wear, broken edges, etc...then thoroughly clean each one and "hand lapp" them so you get a decent seal.

Make sure you are clear on how to properly torque a BMW head. Gaskets and such are gonna run you a couple hundred bucks (MAXIMUM), so if you are feeling skilled, dive in.

        Good luck!

        Luke

Finally, an answer I was looking for...

@Luke - Do you happen to have all of these tools? I am pretty sure my uncle has them, but if not...

I don't have the one thing you need, the valve spring compresor.

All of my tools are Snap-On, they are thousands to replace. I don't loan them out ever, as I use them to earn a living...since pimpin' ain't going so well.

Luke, I got a decal from Snap On on one of my toolboxes says what you did about make my living and no loan out, and with your looks no wonder the pimpin' ain't workin for ya...
Lobar, try Autozone, they loan stuff for free, don't know if a valve spring compressor is in their inventory though. I'm a more year than I care to admit journey level heavy equipment mechanic and I won't do my own head work. No room for error and the stuff needing replacement every time the head comes off is too expensive... Not to mention what a pita it is to do on an M20.

By the way.... I miss-worded myself, being a noob that I am, and I meant to say I need to ADJUST my valves... IKNOW... huge difference.

                        1. you really need to do some research
                        2. if you dont know what TDC is, dont attempt this
                        3. it takes a 10mm to take off the valve cover, 10mm for the eccentrics and some feeler gauges (.030 or .025 i think) plus a small allen to adjust
