        I need glass too.

But can't I just buy a parts car windshield and do it myself?

Yes. It's not hard at all. Andrew, talk to Parker about it if you can find a clean set of glass.
          Need a part? PM me.

I was going to do the same thing but realized that even if an windshield isnt cracked it will still have pitting from being on the road, so i dropped the idea of keeping OEM windshield because it will still have visibility issues

                    also
make sure they dont use sealant during install. Ive seen couple of places use it and it doesnt need it or designed for it.

So true, I need to replace mine mostly from pitting, my visibility is horrible.

I haven't replaced a windshield on an e30, but when I bought mine it had a shattered rear window and I just bought the glass used in a junk yard for $20 and put it in myself. I also had to pull it and put it back in when I painted the car. The windshield is installed in the same manner and; as was mentioned, does not need any type of sealant. So if it is the same difficulty as the rear glass (i would bet it is) then just install it yourself... it's not hard. There is a tool that will make your life easier, but you don't need it.

Unless you can find a wrecked car that had a fairly new windshield, I wouldn't recommend putting a used one in... get a new aftermarket windshield (OEM will be expensive).

I was lucky, I made the place where I got my E30 replace my windshield before I would buy it. Apparently they were able to replace the front for only 100 from whatever dude they had do it...fucker reused the seals though..I hate half ass jobs.

Hey man, do me a favor and find out who they used, I want new glass and I am a broke mofo. Either just tell me the name of the dealership and I will call them, or the name of the glass dude if you would be so kind.

Re-using the seals is actually expected, no shame unless they are crapping out/dry/hard/whatever. Lots of us replace the lockstrip, but the damn lockstrip is more money than the typical older Domestic seal...but they are very easy to install.

My car is on its 6th since I have had it. I paid a shop to do 1 of them, after I broke the one before it putting it in. I SPECIFICALLY told them NOT to use sealant...guess what, they used sealant.

Now I can do one in 20 minutes, easy.

I've never installed one, but Ive pulled one and its dumb simple, guessing its almost as easy to put it back in.
