Should I trade my Audi for this?

I'm thinking about buying a 1994 540i e34 it is a very clean car, and it's been replaced with OEM parts every time, its basically stock. It's the M60 4.0 V8, the only turn off on the car is that it has 231,000 miles on the engine. It was owned by a mechanic for several years and always been taking good care of. It's alpine on parchment. Should i buy this car or not? tell me what you think.

    thanks

I might be trading my 1997 Audi A6 straight across for it.

I'd be getting the hell out of the Audi then if it was me.

I know i really want a BMW compared to an Audi. but i just dont know about the mileage. I think it might be too much.

It's a 17 year old car, 231,000 miles comes out to 13,588.235/yr. That's only about 1,358.235 more miles than the widely accepted 12k per year. On top of that, it has been owned by a Tech, who likely did the high mileage maintenance items, so...

Oh, is it Manual, or Auto?

Find out if and when the block was replaced. It could have 1/4 of the cars mileage on it.

Front susp usually needs an overhaul, and the cooling systems are prone if not maintained. If both of those are needed, you are looking at 1200. But the e34s are great solid cars overall.

I believe that it is the original block, and the cooling system was changed less then a year ago, new water pump, new OEM Radiator, and new timing chains as well i believe.

So, the title of the thread should be "Should I trade my Audi for this?".

                    My answer still is yes.

Since hes a mechanic, I would want a leakdown test if its indeed the original block. If all is well, trade with haste.

The guy says it does not burn oil, it runs very strong and smooth. mechanically there is no problem with this car.

Get a PPI from an uninvolved third party BMW independent shop if you are weary.
