    Powdercoating in the PDX area?

I would like to get a valve cover done. Anyone know any good places?

Times like this are when I wished I lived in LA, so many places to go to get stuff like that done.

If it's any 24V cover, make sure they chemical strip it instead of sandblasting it.

Ya its a NV one. That mag is pretty fragile so it would probably disappear in seconds with a sand blaster lol.

It would be fine in a small cabinet filled with glass beads like I have. There is a place in Hubbard that I've used for a few things, but there has to be someplace closer to you.

I have never been a fan of sandblasting or glass beading anything that is going to be exposed to the oil in the engine. Just me being over zealous..

Now hot tanking, I will hot tank anything that sits still long enough!

            :)

I had thought about investing in one of those home powdercoating systems, they aren't too expensive and look pretty good.. How quick you looking at getting this turned around?

I do it all the time on cars way more expensive than e30's. Careful masking and a through cleaning after. Remember that hot tanks or chemical dipping involves caustic chemicals that are not friendly to non-ferrous metal.

It's kind of far but Jamie does great work at a great price.

Yep, the place I took my first one to ruined it by sandblasting it, made a ton of little craters and holes in it. The second still got a few tiny ones here and there, even after chemical stripping, but they're pretty unnoticeable.

That Mr. Powdercoat guy was a big mistake. It took him a week just to chemical strip it and he wants around 125$ just for a valve cover.

Ouch. I would have stripped for free. I had some rims done and it was $320 for all 4.
