hey funny story i had "smoked" tails when i purchased my car two yrs ago. check to see if spray painted. if so paint thinner should do the trick then buff it ;) you might have to sand it with 2000 grain sandpaper if deep scratches

Now with pictures. I can only guess they where sprayed, but the spray job is pretty good. It is an even tint all over. Also, the pictures make them look darker than they really are.
