If you have really skinny hands and long fingers its possible to do the selector rod(shifting arm) circlip and yellow washers. Shifter carrier only has the shifter cup and the bushing all the way where it meets the bitchpin on the transmission. Those are impossible without removing your exhaust and driveshaft and even lowering the transmission a little.

as cool as that selector rod is it looks like it will rub if you have the harmonic balancer.

What exactly is wrong with the shifter? On my 318, the po said the bushings needed to be replaced, it was hard to get into reverse, and the shifter could be moved up and down. I was quoted $230 to fix it. I go under the car, and some clip at the end of the (selector?) rod was off and missing a nut. The repair cost me 16 cents.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

Going to get it tinted 50% or 35% next week. Doing the bumper tuck mod on Friday, and going to debadge it.

Also its in need of a serious detail. Probably going to wetsand it in a couple of week when school is over. Cleaned the interior today -- microfiber towels turned black!
