How are we to learn and progress forward if we don't ask and share our knowledge of these wonderful cars? :)Comment

Even though the ix block is different, a standard i block can be modified to replace the ix. The oil pump bypass valve is built into the pump in the ix so the oil feed into the block is drilled too large and an insert has to be made to adapt the ix pump to the block. The ix oil pump spins the opposite direction but luckily the gears can be unbolted from the old ix block and bolted into the i. The motor mounts bolt to the same location but the holes need to be drilled large in the i. As for the dipstick, there is a undrilled spot on the i block where it would go if it were for an ix. All you have to do is drill it out. The oil pan bolts right up but has a couple extra holes and the pump bolt location line up too. Clutch and trans bolt up.Comment
