If they have different rates for location I'll be more specific haha. I live in Bellingham, I'm 21 and go too WWU.

Just checked discounts and I have a $22 good student discount and a $10 5 year good driver discount. Total for 6 months 119.50. The guy told me it was bare minimum for geico, I don't mind the price at all

That and the cost of increasing the limits is not high.

You guys are lucky you don't live in NYC.

Decent liability costs me 130 a month (23 with clean record and driver safety class)

If I get a nice car with full coverage I'm looking at probably near 2k a year

Bare minimum liability coverage? Coverage of the car doesn't really matter. It's your exposure to other people's damage claims that does.

Exactly. It's not about fixing your car, it's for paying other people's medical bills (and your own).

Yes I should point out that Geico ran my trans union just for a internet quote.

                        Too much Commercials

I highly doubt those who claim to be the lowest premium rate like Geico, Progressive and the likes.
They spend so much multimillion dollars on uber advertisements, they want as much as possible in return, from you.

Because i heard a lot of sad story from Auto Body Shops about them being so much hassle and or even trying to avoid paying the coverage.

Their adjusters are very well trained to take advantage of anyone, maybe they only get paid based on commission?

If that's the case, you are taking a huge risk of being sued by the other party ( if you deemed at fault in an accident) since your insurance doesn't deliver as it should.

I'd say 50k/100k plus UnInsured Coverage plan would be good enough, just in case.

Other than USAA, what other insurance companies are considered as dependable with their liability coverage, yet affordable?

You don't understand how it works. No one gives a shit about your $300 car. It is the cost of paying for your and other's people's injuries in the event of a bad accident. If you have that coverage, hit someone, total their nice car and put them in the hospital, you will have already exhausted your coverage by far and will be paying out of pocket. When you can't come up with that money, you'll have no choice but go bankrupt.

                              no kidding.

Everyone can have their own reason however insurance covers someone elses car if you are at fault.

#1 I have driven for aliving for about 7 years and driven myself for 20 years and never had an at fault accident and I dont think I ever will. So thats just free money.

#2 if it is my fault, and my insurance doesnt cover it they can sue me all they want. No offense they wont get a cent. They might be able to put a lean on my car at the most.

Unless you own a house get the least amount you can get. insurance benefits you not at all. Dont get in accidents.
