Maryhill Loops Tour - August 12

A few of you expressed an interest in getting in on this CCA event this year. If you're not familiar with Maryhill Loops Road, here is a video from last year's event:

Officially, this is a 1 day event on Sunday, August 12 but the event organizer, Trayson, has an unsanctioned drive on Saturday leaving from Vancouver and heading up to the Dalles via some fun roads. Trayson is a great tour leader and knows some great roads. If you go, you won't be disappointed.

This event is open only to current BMW CCA members, limited to 20 drivers, and registration opens tomorrow morning (Saturday, June 30) at 8:00am. It will likely sell out tomorrow, so don't screw around if you want to go on this.

If you're not a CCA member, sign up today ($48 for a year) and make sure your MotorsportReg.com profile contains your CCA member number. If you're not sure, drop me a PM or email me at communications@bmworegoncca.com and I can check to ensure that your profile shows you're an current club member. Do this today, because I'm not going to be up at 7:59 am Saturday when you're in panic mode.

When we fill up, we have configured the registration to waitlist people so you may still have a chance. Good luck and I'd love to see this event dominated by e30s.

    Cheers,

I'm so sad that I won't be around this year to go to the loops road again. Last year was a blast, I highly recommend people jump on this opportunity to drive an incredible road that is otherwise inaccessible. Definitely worth signing up for BMW CCA if you aren't a member.

Why wouldn't you ever run your car there? I'm trying to figure out on a scale from public roads to HPDE where this event falls.

^ Lol, well I'm a huge waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles now when it comes to my car(Don't ever get a full respray, lol, It makes you nuts!). However the only thing that made me nervous on this road were that there are no barriers for if you lose control. If you end up pushing the limit too much, especially in the wrong spot, you could go off the cliff.. Ask Butters what he thought of it. He was there last year while I was there. In fact I did a few ride-a-longs with him.

Paint... Not something I worry about on my car ;-)
I'm not about to choose to do something stupid if I go, I go to track days because I recognize the safety it provides of doing stupid crap on public roads. At the same time I would like to push my car a bit, otherwise why own a BMW :)

Understand your frustration, but this was my first time personally administering an event via motorsportsreg; and I unchecked the box that was giving the new people issues... We got ya hooked up.

Well, we have to be careful: this is NOT a HPDE. No helmets, no instructors, passengers are allowed, no recording of "times", and CONVERTIBLES CAN RUN!!!

It's a private road that's a couple miles long IIRC and it's got a mess of turns. Since it's a private road, we can run it at a spirited pace and not be "breakin the law"! The pace at which you run the road is TOTALLY up to you. Stacey could run it "low and slow" if she really felt like it. People walk, bicycle, skateboard this road all the time when it's not being rented. So, yeah, you'll likely drive it spirited and have a BLAST, but no one should be pushing it to a point where there's any chance of bad things happening. Our ability to put this event on is contingent with it not being put on as a HPDE. If it did fall into that category, insurance costs would increase 10-fold and we simply wouldn't be able to do it.

So, here's a video... Driving spirited, but well within our limits.
