I have a feeling a swap is closer then expected, so I am putting out feelers for a new motor. Looking to buy an S50 with DME and harness. Prefer mileage to be under 150k, but will consider higher mileage motors, for the right price. I'm also now considering S52's for the same price. Just need to get a motor ASAP.

Looking to spend around the area of $1500. Can go +/- for the right deal. Cash and things to trade, as well. Willing to drive a good distance in any direction (~300 mi) for pickup, also.

Just build an m50. The extra cost of the s50 means a rebuild and high comp pistons

Someone was talking about this over on NWBMW...might be worth a shot. Would prefer something a little closer, but if I don't find anything in a week or two and this is still around, I'll see if the seller would budge on price at all.

Toes, no thanks. No time/money/energy to build a motor. I want to just stick an S50 in and keep going (I know I can have it done in a day, including having exhaust fabbed up.)

With cams, springs, pistons and a crank. Oh, so its pretty much a different motor. lol ;)

Either way you look at it, I'd rather be stroked than not stroked. :)

Once you have built one, then talk senor toes. You dont have to go buy new pistons to rebuilt the motor. You would just put new bearings and rings in the block and be done with it. IF you even had to tear into it. There usually isnt a justifiable reason unless its blown.

I wouldnt even personally waste my time on an m50. The m50 isnt THAT much of a step above a 2.7i or even just an m20b25.

You're sure living up to your title.

I agree with all of this. BTW, this is largely your fault. If you hadn't shown me that exhaust clip, I probably would've left everything as is and ran the M50 'til it blew up. Now, I have to have an S50 with UUC system u! That sound is intoxicating...ahhh!

This guy on BFc has a S52 and tranny

Hey. I've got the whole thing advertised for $2500 OBO, and I would MUCH rather sell it locally so that I don't have to deal with shipping.

Make an offer if you're actually serious. I was planning on taking it out of the car in early July. Feel free to drop by and drive the car if you like. The drive train has ~112k on it. It does need a vanos, but I already have the replacement seals and was planning on replacing those before selling the engine.
Forgot to mention that I did have the car dynoed in the fall, and it made 228 whp.
Let me know if this is something you're interested in and I'll put you in touch with him. He's here in PDX too.
