Hey heard that I can drill out my bumper shocks and move my bumpers back a little bit? I have an '84 318i with the stock huge bumper lips. If anyone can direct me I'd love the input to make my car look better!

WARNING: Drilling bumper shocks
The diving board shocks from an '88 2dr/4dr, and 88-91 convertibles are already somewhat tucked from factory. Also they are filled with a gel-like material so they don't explode oil out when you drill them. So if you have any convertibles around at the junk yard near you, you might consider swapping the shocks from that. It would be a little more work, having to remove the bumper and all, but it would be more straightforward and you wouldn't have to worry about getting oil sprayed in your face-Erik

Buy bumper shocks from a convertible. They will be tucked but still be somewhat functional. If you drill your bumper shocks they will not function at all. So when somebody hits you, you will have body damage instead of just buying a new bumper shock. Drilling the shocks is retarded, don't do it.Comment
