Your brushes are likely worn out. Replace the regulator/brush assy. in your existing alternator for cheap.

                1. Pull your alternator out and remove the two screws that hold the regulator assy. to the alternator case and pull it out. Look in the hole and make sure the copper slip rings that the brushes ride on aren't badly grooved or coming apart.

                2. Go to realoem.com and enter the last 7 digits of your VIN. Click on the 'engine electrical' subgroup, then the click on the alternator group. There were several alternators available depending on how your car was optioned so locate and record the regulator part numbers for each.

                3. Go to autohausaz.com and search those part numbers until you find a match, order regulator.

                4. Gently install the new assy. in your alternator to avoid snapping off your new brushes, and then put the alternator back in the car. Charge your battery.

                5. Start car and verify that the battery warning lamp is not illuminated.

                  1. Order an alternator from your friendly distributor

                  2. Install shiny new problem free alternator

                  That was tough.
