    New Guy

Hello! My names Alex, I moved up to Spokane from Chicago for school (aviation) a little over a year ago, and picked up an 86 325es a few months back. Loving the car, and hopefully I can start putting money into it! Is there a big e30 scene here in spokane?

Should i get plastic bumpers from a newer model e30?

Welcome, if you do switch out your bumpers I suggest reading up on everything you're going to need to do. I am currently about to attempt to do the swap myself.

Welcome. I'm not sure how many E30 lovers there are east of the mountains but the NW is the E30 capital of the US. You'll find all the info you need on bumper swaps. Most will tell you to swap. Nobody likes the diving boards. Mine have grown on me and I'm on the fence about swapping them. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Haha dan, said you like the bumpers and now you want to swap them? Told ya so.

You might want to pick update model valence and lip while your at it. To make the car look lower.

Welcome. I'd look into swapping euro bumpers before I'd do plastic bumpers.

              this

i have a plastic bumpered early model, only because the PO did the work. The front is easy once you get the valence, but the rear takes a good amount of work. It also doesnt look right unless you add a late model rear valence. once thats all done, you're golden.

While I agree with this statement, finding them is the challenge. If I had a set, I would swap in an instant. My advice is for everyone to forget euro bumpers so I can finally have them lol

I don't understand why people swap to late model bumpers. Why don't they just wait and find a late model car in the first place which already has late model bumpers?

"The Camry is an appliance, not a car. It attracts folks who have the same regard for driving that they have for washing dishes,
i.e. it's a necessary but somewhat unpleasant chore and they want something to make the task a little easier and insulate them from the process."

Thanks again man, cant wait to get her back on the road.

Maybe I can just do a little bumper tuck for now? and find a valence+lip to stick under the front bumper (original valence was cracked). First thing I want to spend money on is suspension and wheels.

because the only nice thing about late models is the bumpers, otherwise its all about the early models ;) now you know, and knowing is half the battle

Welcome! I suggest tucking them in first and see if you like it. PB swap takes quite some work imo.
