    The I-got-a-ticket-and-I-hired-a-lawyer thread

So yesterday I was being pulled in 7 different directions after work by kids, errands and other chores; was in a hurry and got a garden-variety ticket for 44 in a 30.

I was guilty as it gets, and it was my first ticket in 13 years.

-I could just pay the $154 fine and be done with it or

-Go to court, miss work and sit on my ass for 2 hours and have it deferred or

-Pay $150 for a lawyer that guarantees it will be dismissed or reduced to a non-moving violation, or my money back!

I really have nothing to lose but I'm interested to see what a lawyer can do with this.

Result: amended to an "inattention" non-moving violation

my initial reaction is to just pay it, but i agree it would be cool to see what kind of magic he could work

Send the ticket to the court after selecting a mitigated hearing on the ticket, and include a letter for a "Written Response" asking for the ticket to be deferred. Sounds like you meet the criteria for a deferred finding, and as long as you "play good" for a year your ticket will disappear into thin air.

You will have to pay a processing fee. Last time I did this it was $100, it might have been increased to $150 looking at the website.

More information can be found at the bottom of this page....

$150 for the lawyer? That's a great deal. The one I use is $350. But I've never had a ticket charge stick.

I paid a lawyer $350 and lost. I would have have just done the deferred method if I were you. You have nothing to loose with the lawyer except higher insurance rates when he doesn't get it dismissed.

I hear Jag Matto is very good at what he does. Might give him a try.

I could just ask for a deferral and get it, but I dont' want to go that option because a single ticket won't change my insurance rates, anyway. I would be using my "silver bullet" in case I needed it for something more important than just a 14-over speeding charge.

If you can defer I would use it. I usually get a lawyer if I cant handle it myself.
But yeah traffic attorneys work I've gotten myself out of a whole mess of things haha
I recommend Anthony Reifers, his office is downtown so getting there is a pain but he has yet to fail me.

you must also think about the 3 year rule for insurance premiums on tickets. Estimate at least 15% premium increase if you just pay.

I have used a lawyer every time. Most of the time I pay 250+ so 150 ita great. I've yet to have aa ticket stick. They've all been negotiated or dismissed. None went on the record. Just saying.

Yes, just pay an Attorney to take care of it.

Attorney all the way!!! I've trusted them with 4 tickets and one accident. All of which were dismissed.
