I'm thinking the car is still in one piece or at least all the parts and car in the same location.

I have a feeling they didn't think it'd be so publicized. They're prolly waiting it out till things blow over.. Which they never will. Keep the thread alive.

Nothing thus far. Just playing the insurance company game now. Thank goodness for some now legal advice from my attorneys. Ins companies are always trying to get you stuck on something so they dont have to pay out. No matter what documents I send them, its always something else they want/need. If this continues I am just going to pay my attorney and let him handle all the correspondence from now on. These people are ridiculous.

Its been 3 months, I am coming to terms with the loss and likely no return of my e30. I get mad and frustrated searching for parts online to see if mine pop up. Chances are I will be out of e30s for a while at the minimum. I might get another one someday, but for now my energy will be focused elsewhere.

And we are expecting come April, so thats something to look forward too as well. Yay #2!

^this could very well be true. Hopefully they make a mistake and your car turns up. Either way good luck sir and congratulations on the future kid.

I always get hopeful when I see a reply to this thread. I now have an offer from insurance at least. 1500. That will get me... nothing. Stated policy with Progressive means nothing. Save your money.

That's pretty messed up. When I rolled my 86 325e I got State Farm to cut me a check for 2500.

This story just keeps sucking more and more. I really hope the people who did this die in a fire!

1500! Time to lawyer up. They gave my girlfriend 3000 for an 85 f150, that was beat.

I document everything I do to my cars for progressive with pics and receipts. And have ample additional parts coverage. Make sure youre covered because you never know.

^It's tough to document the value of a car when it was a work in progress.

                            Insurance companies suck.

The car was done, literally. Had just spent the day before putting all the last trim pieces on. I was planning to debut it at the show one week later and take it out of the storage locker the following day or two. This is all what makes me believe it was someone working there, or a friend of an employee etc.

I was, and I have all the receipts and pictures. 100 pictures and 500 copies of receipts later, and there offer is a devalued run of the mill 325e sedan with high miles, less my deductible. Last week I got a phone call from a regional manager overseeing 7 states blah blah blah that wanted to take it to mediation as opposed to exercising the appraiser clause, which I had already started. Mediation would put it all in the hands of an umpire and their decision would be binding and end all. Just what progressive would like. And making me represent myself, or hire counsel all on a matter that I am not versed in.

Stated value policy, receipts provided, pictures provided, documentation provided = standard value offer from Progressive. Buyers beware! Looks like I will be left holding the empty bag on this one.

why didn't you invoke the appraisal clause? if you haven't yet that's definitely the way to go. an appraisal wouldn't be that expensive, and you'd have a real market value, not bluebook nonsense.

I know a guy but he's in Seattle.. don't know if he goes down to Oregon or not.
