    FEELER: 1991 525i part out

ok, so I might have an opportunity to buy a 1991 525i with a m50 and 5 speed (not sure what tranny) for a part out. the motor, transmission, ecu, and harness, along with what ever else I need for a E30 M50 swap, are mine, everything else will be up for grabs. what I know so far is the everything else is good except the front seats, they are trashed, previous owners were 400+ lbs and destroyed the seats. their is a catch 22, the guy I am buying it from has said that he will sell it to me, for a reduced price, if I allow him to keep the title, and he will take the remains and scrap it when everything is said and done.

So here's the deal, reply here if their is anything you'd be willing to buy, with a aprox price you are willing to pay. I know for actual "for sale" stuff you gotta put prices, but for now I'm just trying to see if this will be worth while for me.

Correct me if I am wrong but a 1991 525i should be an M20.

          Tranny would be a ZF.

Not too familiar with the ZF's yet, better off with my 260 or the ZF, if I end up pulling the trigger on this....

Not familiar with your car but if you are 24v run the ZF. No brainer.

ok, sounds like I'd be a retard not to take this setup. Basicly I'm spending $1500 and getting anything I need from the E34 for the swap. I'm going to wait until I get closer to payday before pulling the trigger.

the big issue I am having at the moment, is pinpointing exactly everything I should be taking, I know the motor, tranny, harness, alternator, PS pump, and ecu for sure, but what else should I be grabbing from this car? all the "how to" and Q&A's I've read all use the E36 as the donor car. from what I can gather, I need to get the engine mounts from a E28 and cooling system from a late 318 E30, but I'm still not sure about the rest.....

Hmmm.....Might be a good idea to start a new thread, or re-title this one....

Cooling system from late 325i including hose that runs under the intake. Upper/lower rad hoses from E36 24v.

                        1991 525i M50nv into 1987 E30 swap, coming soon

ok, I'm going to try to change the subject name.

Also, I do have a question about wiring. Everything I am reading, is directly refrencing using a E36 harness and E36 ECU, but given the deal I am working to get this M50 and ZF, I'm wondering if I can use the E34 harness and ECU. Anyone know for sure?

DME is the same. I would use an E36 harness for length reasons if you can. If not, the E34 one will work just fine.

thanks man, is the E34 longer or shorter than the E36.
