And not for a one-night stand. The family and myself will be relocating ourselves to the PDX-area in early August. We haven't decided on a permanent city yet, but we're leaving Bend for parts North. Several factors have culminated all at once, rather cosmically, resulting in a decision for a much-needed change.
We lost the lease on our house because the owner decided to sell, leaving us 6 weeks to find a new place to live. With the rental market here at less than 1% vacancy, we ended up with nowhere to go but to my in-laws, who luckily have a large finished basement apartment on the bottom floor of their house, and are letting us crash-land here rent-free for a few months. We'll be saving as much money as possible until the move, and then find someplace cheap to rent for a year while we straighten out a few finances, then will be looking to buy.
So along with many other things, like the availability of so much more stuff for the family to do together, along with individually, it has become the best choice. So I'll be seeing you at the Picnic in Tacoma this summer, and then a month later, I'll be in Portland to stay.
Oh, by the way, keep this off Facebook if you're friends with me, we haven't broken it to most of the families, yet. :D
