WTB LSD Differential + early model short shafts

Looking to buy a limited slip differential and short shafts. willing to pay the price for the right condition. preferably with low miles and off of a e30/e28 that had a stock motor. in other words looking for a differential with at least 5 years of life left in it.

in regards to gear ratios I'm open to any of the following:

    s3.91
    s3.73
    s3.64
    s3.25
    s3.23
    s3.15
    s3.07
    s2.93

    much thanks.

Maybe this will save you the $.. I have no idea who started the rumor that medium cases come with stronger axles... Z3M come with stronger axles... late model E30s all use the same

The difference in axles are mostly early/late. 86 and earlier got smaller CVs and 87 and later got the bigger ones.

^ this and you should be able to swap larger CV's into an early car but i dont own one so cannot say for certain

I have bolted 2 different small case and 3 different medium case diff's into my car from different year E30s (eta's, M42s, 325 autos ect) Never any fitment issues with E30 318is CV axles..

Dude that is a wide range of ratios; you should figure out what ratio would suit you based on engine, trans and purpose. Slap a 2.93 in an m42 car and it won't get out of its own way.

I've had three rears in my car (84 318i) from all over the place, certainly later model then my car and I've never had a mounting issue with the axles. Tuesday in taking out my current one for a 293lsd (don't worry wh33lhop the car was swapped to m20 and I'm going turbo)

I am going to be swapping in a 318ti rear trailing arms.. Why are you opting for early model CVs?

I don't think you will be running into any issues, seeing how many people run those on e30's. reason I'm looking for the shorter shafts is: I've read several posts on the 318ti.org forum where guys have tried using the late model axles and had issues with the axles not letting the car lower. internet.
pretty much to be on the safe side.

I have also swapped from a small case s4.10 to medium case s3.73 few years ago with no issues on the e30.
