im not a huge fan of the wheels but it looks pretty clean
the interior alone is enough to get a boner

It may be a "POS" but how many other iX tourings are for sale locally?

There is a guy in pennsylvania who imports these, to what seems like 10 at a time. When I first saw one, I thought it was really unique. When James got his, with the story and trip, it makes it unique. But to be honest, people with extra $ are going to start dumping them here. I have seen 2 or 3 locally already. It will get to the point where there everywhere. The guy in Penn, im told, gets them here for maybe 6,000 ish, and starts asking 15,000 no work done.

If I had a touring, id hope I didn't need any touring specific parts, as most people overseas wont ship here. Im happy with my 318is. Only made 1 year, and my 98 m3.

Work is done, he has to find them, and work out the logistics of shipping them, I can see how it would seem no work is done though.

He gets them here for 6k all said and done. And when I say work, he sells them as worn out cars, won't even change oil

I find it hilarious when people get all high and mighty when somebody is making a decent margin on work that frankly has high risk and an even higher bullshit factor (customs, shipping, it ain't easy).

Most of the tourings that get imported here are usually cars that dont pass german MTU and so they get sold for literally dirt cheap. I wont touch one unless I saw that it passed MTU in germany before i bought it.

I would agree, unless I was going to do a full, strip to bare frame, rebuild. THEN I'd wanna know why it failed TUV.......

There's plenty of people that'll ship to the US. I wouldn't consider that an obstacle at all. My fav being W&N

Back in 2009, before I came back to the states from germany, I had an oppurtunity to buy a metal bumper 325ix touring from the wrecking yard at Baumholder, it needed a right front fender, Included with the sale, and the cluster had some grimlins, and minimal rust. the price....sit down first....$500. and I could have shipped it back on the army's dime, AND it was old enough, it SHOULD have been exempt from all the federalization crap. I passed, and brought home my former Toyota Matrix XRS. at the time I was just getting into E30s I had just been forced to sell my 316i, I had NO idea how rare and how much good ones sell for here. I kick myself every day.

ANYWAYS....I'm planning on going back over the summer of 2016, and I am planning on trying to get my hands on one while I am there, drive it around Germany for about 2-3 weeks, then ship it back here. we will see if it happens or not. ....

"Decent margin"? The guys are fucking con men. I don't care how big of a hassle customs is, you don't get to sell a car for 200%+ your initial cost just because you made a phone call and paid somebody to ship it over here.

I could understand $13k if the guy swam across the fucking Atlantic with the car on his back.

If I got a touring, I would definitelt haul shit in it. Always figured I'd swap out the rear carpet for a panel sprayed with bedliner anyway.
