we got ours in Canada. Couldn't find a single one in the US.

you have to swap faceplates as it will not have MPH, and you need a letter from BMW saying it meets US regulations (it does). It's not too hard, but the guy we bought it from sort of screwed us. He put some plastic labels over the cluster "approximately" where the MPH were supposed to be. He told me he had fixed it as we agreed, and when we picked up the car I was pissed. Fortunately the border guys didn't even look at it, but my wife and I seem to have good luck when crossing the border with cars. (he literally opened the door, looked outside to see there was a car, and came back inside).

You can do it yourself for about $100 (used cluster). easy to take out and disassemble, but the needles are a pain in the ass to put back on in the right place and without popping the little gearbox apart. However, as long as it shows MPH you could adjust it later, they aren't going to test drive it or anything. All the digital stuff can be switched over via the radio/OBC buttons.

Import duties were minimal and you can write it off on your taxes. if you stay the night, you don't have to pay any duties at all, but we had kids and work the next day, and it was only about $300 anyway.

Can I join the e91 party? We were really fortunate enough to find ours in Pasco WA of all places a couple years back. Wish she was a MT but my wife needed an AT so be it. My E30 keeps her company in the garage :)

Best of luck in the search, I can also vouch for Kevin at KD Motorsports, he does solid work for a reasonable price. Guy has a wicked e30 race car!

too bad it's AT. they aren't too hard to find, we saw a couple when we were looking. Julien had one with the 3 stage manifold for sale, if only it had been an MT..

Yea, Autos are definitely easier to find compared to their MT counterparts but just finding a clean E91 is a hard enough challenge. The AT suits our family really well and couldn't be happier. Best of luck!

She's back after taking a 4 year nap! picked her up today from West Werks! What a great shop and would highly recommend them to anyone needing service. They did a full go over of the car, new fluids, filters, belts etc. More to follow......
